Metal dome in reel tape can be customized in any shape and size.Suitable for automated production lines, it can be automatically placed on the circuit board with the machine, and up to 10,000 domes can be placed per hour, thus simplifying the manufacturing process, saving production time and costs, and ultimately improving production efficiency.
Metal dome in reel tape is a strip metal elastic component manufactured through a continuous roll to roll process, specifically designed for high-speed automated assembly.
Advantages of Metal Dome
High Reliability: metal domes are made from stainless steel, offering high strength and corrosion resistance, enabling them to withstand harsh environments for extended periods.
Long Lifespan: The lifespan of metal domes typically exceeds 1 million cycles, significantly outlasting mechanical switches.
Superior tactile feedback: metal domes offer better tactile feedback than mechanical switches, providing a distinct response when pressed, resulting in a more comfortable user experience.
Compact size: Their extremely small size allows for flexible application in various electronic devices.

Packing
Tape & reel metal domes constitute a metal dome packaging format for high-speed pick-and-place machines. Each metal dome is sealed within a socket on a continuous adhesive tape and wound onto a reel, enabling it to be picked and placed on SMT placement machines in the same manner as conventional components such as resistors and capacitors. Metal domes utilising this packaging method are termed ‘tape-and-reel metal domes’.
Similar to tube-packaged metal domes, these tape-and-reel domes enhance assembly speed and improve dome alignment precision at the design location. Crucially, as this packaging is compatible with fully automated placement machines, assembly speeds significantly exceed those achievable with tube-packaged domes. Like conventional components, 20,000 to 100,000 domes can be placed per hour, with exact quantities varying depending on the specific SMT equipment. Operators achieve maximum throughput with minimal time investment, delivering substantial cost savings.
Current packaging specifications encompass four-pin metal domes, triangular domes, and circular series domes. This configuration facilitates forward loading onto reels and ensures precise alignment.
Please note: This packaging is solely for SMT equipment convenience. Conventional metal domes must never be used for soldering!
